About The Event

When you compost indoors with Red Wigglers, your kitchen scraps will be turned into nutrient-rich worm castings no matter what the weather's like outside. Vermicomposting, as it's called, is probably even easier than you might think. Betsy will demonstrate how to start composting with worms, including discussing the types of bins you can buy or make. You'll also learn why Red Wigglers are the best for vermicomposting, how to keep them happy, and how to harvest and use your worm castings. Betsy will also include a few tips on outdoor composting in our climate.

Betsy Dudash is a Wenatchee-based, Purdue-trained Landscape Horticulturist and Designer who specializes in native plants. She is currently Board President of Sustainable NCW and enjoys teaching in the Continuing Education program at Wenatchee Valley College.

This is a free event in partnership with Sustainable NCW and Wenatchee River Institute as part of the Red Barn…

We have the incredible opportunity to live in the homelands of the P'Squosa / Wenatchi people. The importance of acknowledging the true history of this land cannot be overstated. Thank you to our valley's first stewards. To learn more, visit the Indigenous Roots & Reparation Foundation.
