What would we like for our birthday, you ask?

This is a big day for Sustainable Wenatchee!

Today, October 30th, is our "3rd birthday." Three years ago today, Sustainable Wenatchee was officially incorporated as a non-profit organization in Washington state. We're proud of how much we've grown in that time and also very grateful for the support of our community. Today we are launching our membership program, to make it even easier for those of you who support us to do so.

Up until this point, we've been working toward our mission with grant funding (thank you Our Valley Our Future/Community Foundation of NCW and Icicle Fund), business sponsorships (thank you Icicle Brewing Co., Wenatchee Valley Massage Clinic and Rhubarb Market!), event sponsorships, fundraisers and one-time donations from our many generous supporters. Now our membership program will enable you to support us on a more consistent basis with auto-renewing donations made monthly or annually.* That helps us focus even more of our time on promoting a culture of sustainability rather than on raising the funds to do so.

We know as someone with a conscious view of the many resources that we waste, you're not interested in a bunch of swag, so our membership benefits are simple: you'll get the chance to pre-register for special events and get discounts on some programs and events. Members are recognized through Sustainable Wenatchee communications including our annual report, which you’ll receive each year to let you know how your donation has supported our mission. All levels of membership receive the same benefits, but if you want extra "good karma points," you can go above and beyond and choose the Local Hero option.

Becoming a "sustaining donor" only requires $35 a year - that's less than $3 a month. In addition to a regular membership, we've got a discounted membership for seniors or students, a family membership, the Local Hero option, and a business sponsorship available. There's also an option to designate how you'd like us to use your donation, for our area of greatest need or for climate or waste-related programs and events.

Our goal is to raise $1,500 by the end of the year through this new membership program. If you've ever enjoyed one of our events, emailed us with a question about recycling, or learned from one of our blogs, we would love your financial support as a member. We hope you'll join our movement toward a more sustainable Wenatchee valley today!

*If you prefer to make a one-time donation without auto renewal, you can donate via our PayPal Giving Fund, with no fees.

Thank you! - Jana Fischback, Executive Director, and the Sustainable Wenatchee board of directors: Joan Qazi, Jenny Montgomery, Betsy Dudash, Lauren Kendall, Danny Zavala, and Elisa Lopez.
