About The Event

If you find yourself frustrated and confused about how and where to recycle items in NCW, you’re not alone. With a constantly changing industry, and one that is different depending on where you live, it can be hard to know what’s really recyclable in our area. Plus, you may be wondering, is it even worth it? Many people question if the things we put in our curbside bin really get recycled. Jana Fischback, Executive Director of Sustainable NCW, will share the truth about recycling and bust some myths you may have heard. In this class, you will learn what goes on behind the scenes with the recyclable materials that you put in your curbside bin, plus get some tips on where you can take other materials not accepted at home. Jana will give a quick tutorial of Sustainable NCW’s new search tool, the Waste Wizard, which is a comprehensive, custom-made recycling guide for NCW. Finally, she’ll share some suggestions on how to minimize your waste (hint: it might not be about recycling!) and what you shouldn’t worry too much about.

We have the incredible opportunity to live in the homelands of the P'Squosa / Wenatchi people. The importance of acknowledging the true history of this land cannot be overstated. Thank you to our valley's first stewards. To learn more, visit the Indigenous Roots & Reparation Foundation.
