Executive Director, part-time
Sustainable NCW seeks an Executive Director who will work toward achieving our mission to promote a culture of environmental stewardship and social sustainability in North Central Washington by educating and inspiring the community to live more sustainable lives. We have a working board of directors that the Executive Director works closely with to achieve our mission.
Initial compensation: $25/hr, 20 hours per week. On-the-job training will be provided by the outgoing Executive Director as needed.
Depending on success in reaching development goals (see Key Responsibilities - Development below), this position is expected to eventually increase up to 30 hours per week with commensurate raises in the hourly wage. While we cannot offer traditional benefits at this time, this position offers a great deal of flexibility and autonomy.
Location and hours: Our office is located within the Mercantile in downtown Wenatchee. Hybrid options are available, and hours are flexible, though at least half of working hours must be in-person between 8am and 5pm Monday through Friday. Some evening meetings are required. Must be available on the third Monday of every month for board meetings from 7-8:30pm. Applicants must reside within Chelan or Douglas county.

Key Responsibilities:

Administrative & HR
-
Performing administrative duties as needed (on-the-job training is available for the list below)

Maintaining 501(c)3 status and filing all necessary annual state and federal reports
-
Creating an annual budget and working with the treasurer to offer regular updates to the board on financial status
-
Hiring and managing staff as we grow
-
Bookkeeping using Quickbooks Online
-
Performing payroll and pay monthly taxes via OnPay
-
Managing documents in Google Drive
-
Maintaining and improving the website including SEO using Wix
-
Communicating with staff and board via email and Slack
-
Working with board president to recruit and collaborate with board members
-

Development
-
With the help of the Fundraising Committee, create and execute development strategies to set and reach fundraising goals including:

Researching, writing, and editing grant applications
-
Identifying business and event sponsorship opportunities and pursuing them; managing annual renewal of business sponsorships, issuing invoices and receiving payment.

Identifying and executing strategies to increase individual donations and memberships
-
Using DonorBox to manage the membership program
-
Assisting with the Earth Day Fair silent auction

Community Engagement​​
-
With the help of the Partnerships and Outreach committee, plan public classes and workshops throughout the year, including partnerships with other organizations

Speaking engagements and representing Sustainable NCW at community events and meetings
-
With the help of the Earth Day Fair committee, planning the Earth Day Fair every April
-
Monitoring social media accounts and creating engaging posts, including video
-
Using Canva for graphic design of flyers and social media content
-
Promoting events and classes, including writing press releases and doing occasional radio interviews
-
Creating a monthly e-newsletter
-
With the help of the Waste Wizard committee, promote the Waste Wizard tool and keep it up-to-date

Desired Qualifications:
​
To be considered for this opportunity, the following are required:
-
Two years of relevant experience (education may substitute on a year for year basis).
-
High school graduation or GED equivalency.
-
Working knowledge of local and globally relevant environmental issues.
-
Reliable transportation, since transporting event supplies such as a tent, table and chairs is sometimes required.

Broad technology skills including proficiency with Google Workspace (Gmail, Google Calendar, and Google Drive).
-
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

It is preferred that qualified candidates also have:
-
A bachelor’s degree or 4+ years experience in a related field.
-
Experience leading community engagement efforts and outreach.
-
Adept with social media platforms and an ability to maintain an active organization presence.
-
Experience in business or nonprofit management, including budgeting, bookkeeping, and fundraising (or sales).

Bilingual in English and Spanish, as we are working to reach our whole community.
